Mathlete

I hope I made some kids happy yesterday. I have a cold this week, so I didn’t have the energy to be as stealthy as when I hid the dollars in the grocery store. If anyone thought to question the woman lingering by the gumball machines, my snuffling put them off for sure.

I’m fairly housebound today, so joy will need to come from something close at hand. I think I may take some time off this afternoon to do a few math puzzles. I LOVE finding the right answer. Yes, I am that geeky. It’s time you knew.

Speaking of fun math, if you haven’t watched any of Vi Hart’s videos, you really ought to. Love them.

My obsession with Gotye continues. I just got his previous album. If I start signing my posts “Mrs. Dory Gotye,” you should start worrying. So should Gotye, I think.

I am sorry to say that even the word mathlete gives me the heebie jjeebies and brings back memories circa 1970 of algebra 2 class with Mr. Ruggles. You, my friend, are brave 🙂

I have got to start listening to Gotye. I used to listen to a lot of music in New York, in the subway, but now that I moved to a town where I drive, I rarely have my iPod on. I have heard one or two of his songs and liked them, but what would you recommend? Any favorites?

    • I love “Somebody I Used to Know,” which has gotten some radio play and from that same album “In Your Light” and “Eyes Wide Open.” I also like “Hearts a Mess” from his previous album. He’s a little offbeat, and I LOVE that about him.

  8. Thanks for my first introduction to Vi Hart… I think. I just spent an hour I couldn’t afford, watching her super-cool videos. 🙂
